Luisa Alvarez, DVM, is a locum vet in Toronto who practices endoscopic
medicine.
In 1997, Dr. Alvarez graduated from the Universidad Central de Venezuela. The following year, she completed an externship in internal medicine at the Animal Medical Center in New York, completed three courses in endoscopy under world-renowned Dr. Todd Tams and spent eight weeks at the Mediterranean Institute of Endoscopy in Castellon, Spain.
Dr. Alvarez is committed to continuing her education in endoscopy procedures. In 2001 she completed the Small Animal Soft Tissue Rigid Endoscopy program from the University of Georgia and in 2006-7 she completed modules 1 and 2 of the Flexibile and Rigid Endoscopy program from Life Learn.
After offering a mobile endoscopic service to hospitals throughout Caracas, Venezuela, Dr. Alvarez returned to the Mediterranean Institute of Endoscopy as an assistant instructor. In 2004, she completed all requirements to practice veterinary medicine in North America, and now offers her services to Toronto and area veterinary hospitals.
